Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Goa Women’s Forum (GWF) submitted a memorandum expressing deep concern over the increasing incidents of digital violence targeting women and children in South Goa. The Forum highlighted a growing range of threats, including hacking, trolling, cyberbullying, deepfakes, and online grooming.
Calling for an urgent and coordinated response, the GWF urged authorities to formulate a comprehensive action plan to curb these offences. The memorandum proposed several measures, including organising taluka-level awareness programmes in collaboration with the Cybercrime Cell, training women teachers to identify and report technology-driven offences, and implementing strategies to prevent online prostitution and exploitation.

The Forum also recommended specialised training for Village Child Committee members and senior citizen volunteers to help them recognise and respond to digital violence. Officials are expected to review the proposal and explore ways to strengthen cyber-safety mechanisms across the district.
