PANJIM: Legal Titans halted United Brothers’ winning streak on Monday to secure a place in the semi-finals of Advocates Cricket League 2025-26 T20 tournament played at the Chicalim, Vasco.
After losing their first three matches, the Titans bounced back strongly, winning their next two games by big margins and qualifying for the last four on the strength of a superior net run rate.
After restricting United Brothers to 156 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs, Legal Titans chased down the target by scoring 157 for 2 in 16.1 overs, winning by 8 wickets with as many as 23 balls to spare. Legal Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. For United Brothers, captain Shaumik Angle (32), Dattaraj Gawas, and Dattaraj Parab (27 each) put up notable performances. For the Titans, Satchit Mauskar and Pravin Gawas picked up two wickets each.
While chasing the target, Titans not only needed a win but also a big-margin victory. Satyam Ghogale (65 runs off 42 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) and Satchit Mauskar (42 runs off 32 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) provided a solid opening stand of 109 runs. Thereafter, captain Pravin Gawas (unbeaten 32 off 18 balls) and Kanhaiya (unbeaten 8 off 5 balls) guided the team to victory and, in the process, knocked Risers out of the semifinal race.
The first semi-final between United Brothers and Legal Titans will be played on January 9. On the same day, 18 Juners will take on Lawyer Challengers in the second semifinal. Both matches will be played at the GCA Ground, Porvorim.
