The Goa Catholic Association (GCA) on Tuesday met the Governor of Goa and submitted two memorandums highlighting concerns over recent attacks on Christians and other minorities across the country. The association urged the Governor to seek a detailed report from the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister on the incidents reported over the past week. GCA president Cyril Fernandes alleged that Christians are increasingly being treated as second-class citizens despite their significant contribution to nation-building. He said the growing sense of insecurity among minority communities is deeply worrying and needs immediate attention from the highest authorities. Fernandes stressed that India’s constitutional values guarantee equality and religious freedom, and any violation of these principles must be addressed firmly. The GCA appealed for swift action to ensure the safety, dignity and rights of minorities and to restore confidence among communities that feel targeted and marginalised.
