Peaceful Hunger Strike Launched at Arab Saab Sunni Jamia Masjid

Members of the Muslim community in Margao have begun a peaceful hunger strike at Arab Saab Sunni Jamia Masjid in Malbhat to highlight their concerns regarding the functioning of the historic mosque. Supporters allege that certain anti-social elements from Moti Dongor are interfering in the mosque’s internal affairs. To address the issue, the protesters have appealed to the district collector to step in and ensure a transparent and fair process ahead of the committee elections. The mosque has 792 registered members who are expected to participate in the upcoming elections. Protesters say the hunger strike is intended to protect the sanctity of the place of worship and uphold democratic practices within its administration, while maintaining peace and harmony in the area.
