Valpoi JMFC Fines Man ₹2,050 for Transporting 53 Live Pigs Without Permission, Cites Animal Cruelty

The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Valpoi imposed a fine of ₹2,050 on Jeevan Shipri after he pleaded guilty to illegally transporting 53 live pigs from Karnataka to Goa without the required permissions.

The incident dates back to January 27, 2025, when authorities intercepted the vehicle carrying the animals. During the proceedings, the court observed that the pigs were being transported in unhygienic conditions, which amounted to cruelty to animals under relevant laws.
