Mandrem Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Haveri, Karnataka, after seizing suspected ganja worth Rs 4.72 lakh during a narcotics raid at Khind in Morjim on January 25. Acting on specific information, the police conducted the operation and recovered several packets of the banned substance, which were allegedly meant for illegal sale. The accused was taken into custody on the spot and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The raid was led by PSI J Abhishek Chodankar, who confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the source of the contraband and whether others were involved. Police are also examining possible links to a wider drug network operating in the coastal belt.
