MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Thursday asserted that Dabolim Airport will never be closed and accused South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes of misleading people by spreading false information, particularly during election periods.
Speaking while laying the foundation stone for retaining wall works at Khapreshwar Temple in Sada, Amonkar said Fernandes has a habit of creating fear among the public by making baseless claims.

“South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes is always used to misguiding people and creating fear by providing false information, especially when elections are approaching,” Amonkar alleged.
He further stated that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, along with other ministers, have held a series of meetings on the issue.
“We have received clear assurances from both the state and the Centre that Dabolim airport will never be closed,” Amonkar said.
The MLA reiterated that the government remains committed to protecting the interests of people dependent on the airport and to ensuring continued operations at the historic aviation hub.
