Lifesavers deployed by Drishti Marine carried out 548 water rescues across Goa in 2025, rescuing 450 Indian nationals and 98 foreigners, reflecting another demanding year for the state’s beach safety network.
In addition to water rescues, Drishti Marine personnel assisted 829 victims in various emergencies, including providing first aid, tracing missing persons and responding to other critical situations.
Among beaches in North Goa, Calangute recorded the highest number of rescues at 103, followed by Baga with 68 and Sinquerim with 61. In South Goa, Colva reported 55 rescues, while Palolem accounted for 50.
Data shows that Russian nationals formed the largest group among foreign rescues, with 56 cases, followed by 13 rescues involving citizens from the United Kingdom.
Month-wise analysis revealed that October witnessed 67 rescue incidents, while December recorded the highest overall number of emergency responses, coinciding with peak tourist activity.
Drishti Marine officials said the figures highlight the crucial role of trained lifesavers in preventing drownings and responding swiftly to emergencies, while reiterating the importance of public awareness, adherence to safety flags and responsible behaviour at beaches.
