Microsoft has appointed Indian-origin executive Asha Sharma as the new Executive Vice President and CEO of its gaming division. She will succeed Phil Spencer, who is retiring after nearly four decades with Microsoft Gaming.
Announcing the leadership change, CEO Satya Nadella said he remains optimistic about gaming’s central role in the company’s consumer strategy and expressed confidence in Sharma’s leadership.

Sharma is an alumna of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and brings nearly 15 years of experience across technology, product and operations. She began her Microsoft journey in 2011 in marketing before moving to Porch Group as Chief Operating Officer, where she helped scale the business and supported its $1 billion public debut.
In 2017, Sharma joined Meta as Vice President of Product and Engineering. She later led product teams across Messenger and Instagram Direct, and served as General Manager for calling, video and kids’ experiences, building a strong reputation in consumer technology leadership.
