Strict restrictions announced near Assembly complex

The District Magistrate, North, has issued a prohibitory order in view of the Thirteenth Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly of the State. The directive bars the assembly of five or more persons, processions, use of loudspeakers, slogan shouting and carrying of weapons within a 500-metre radius of the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and areas under Panaji Police Station. The order will remain effective from March 6 to March 27, 2026, beginning at 10.00 am on the first day. Authorities clarified that the restrictions will not apply to public servants on duty or to genuine marriage and funeral processions with prior permission. The move is aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring smooth conduct of the Assembly session. Residents and visitors have been advised to comply strictly to avoid legal action during the notified period and ensure public safety.
