Police in Surat are investigating the deaths of two college students whose bodies were discovered inside a bathroom at the Swaminarayan Temple premises. Initial findings suggest the girls may have died by suicide after allegedly injecting poisonous drugs, though authorities say the exact cause will only be confirmed after forensic and post-mortem reports.
According to police officials, the students had left their homes on Friday morning for college but failed to return later in the day. When their families could not reach them, a search was launched and police were alerted. Investigators tracked the last known location of their mobile phones to the temple complex, where their scooters were later found parked.

CCTV footage from the premises showed the two girls entering a bathroom area. When officers reached the location on Saturday, the bathroom door was locked from inside. Police had to break open the door, where they found the students unresponsive. A syringe and three bottles believed to contain poisonous substances were recovered near the bodies.
During the investigation, officials also discovered that the students had searched for “How to commit suicide” on an artificial intelligence platform, raising further questions about the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The seized items, including the syringe, drug bottles and the girls’ mobile phones, have been sent for forensic analysis. Police from the Dindoli station have registered a case of accidental death while the investigation continues.
