Singer Badshah has landed in controversy over the lyrics of his latest song Tateeree, drawing sharp criticism from several quarters. The rapper has been accused of “sexualising young school-going girls” through objectionable lyrics in the track. The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has taken serious note of the matter, summoning the singer and warning of strict action if he fails to appear. An FIR has also been registered in Haryana over the song.
Women’s Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia issued a strong warning, stating that such language insulting the daughters of Haryana is unacceptable. Speaking to ANI, Bhatia said the singer has been summoned to appear before the commission on March 13 and must take responsibility for his actions. She added that if he continues to avoid the summons, the commission will ensure he is not allowed to perform in Haryana.

Bhatia further urged event organisers and music producers not to offer work to the singer until he gives a satisfactory explanation. She also criticised the apology issued by Badshah, saying it failed to clarify why such lyrics were used.
Following the backlash, Badshah released a video apology and removed the song from public platforms, stating that people’s sentiments matter more than anything else.
