“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Is Indeed Unprofessional”: RCB Star Stands Firm, Addresses Controversy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma recently sparked debate after describing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as “unprofessional.” The comment, which quickly gained traction on social media, was later clarified by Sharma, who said it stemmed from their close friendship and the youngster’s age rather than any criticism of his cricketing abilities.

The remark was originally made during a conversation with RCB legend AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel. Sharma explained that when asked to name a promising young talent, he immediately picked Sooryavanshi, praising his technique, mindset, and work ethic. He even suggested that the teenager has the potential to excel across all three formats of the game.

However, Sharma added that off the field, Sooryavanshi is very much like any other 15-year-old. He enjoys simple pleasures like eating ice cream, watching cartoons, and spending time casually with friends. Highlighting their bond, Sharma said the youngster often visits his home, interacts with his family, and behaves like a younger brother.

Addressing the backlash, Sharma dismissed the controversy and urged people to view the comment in context. He emphasized that while professionalism is expected at the highest level, it is equally important to allow young players to enjoy their childhood. According to him, Sooryavanshi’s ability to balance his natural, carefree personality with his commitment on the field is what makes him special.
