The much-anticipated IPO of SpaceX could turn Goa-origin investor Antonio Gracias into one of the wealthiest individuals connected to the global space industry. Reports suggest that if SpaceX goes public in the coming years, Gracias could earn billions due to his early investments and close association with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
According to media reports, Gracias currently controls nearly 7.3 percent of SpaceX through investment giant Valor Equity Partners. With SpaceX already valued among the world’s most powerful private companies, the upcoming IPO is expected to create enormous wealth for early backers.

Who Is Antonio Gracias?
Antonio Gracias was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States. His father had immigrated from Goa before eventually becoming a neurosurgeon in Detroit. Despite growing up in America, Gracias has often been linked to his Goan heritage through his family roots.
He studied international economics and foreign service at Georgetown University and later spent time in Japan studying at Waseda University while working with Nikko Securities. He eventually earned a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1998.
The Man Behind Valor And SpaceX Investments
While still studying law in 1995, Gracias launched MG Capital, which later evolved into Valor Equity Partners — the investment firm that would become deeply connected to Elon Musk’s companies.
Over the years, Valor invested in several major technology firms including Tesla, Neuralink, Reddit, Anduril Industries and Zipline.
Gracias was also among Tesla’s early investors and served on the company’s board from 2007 to 2021. He continues to remain on the board of SpaceX and is considered one of Musk’s most trusted allies in Silicon Valley.
A Close Friendship With Elon Musk
Reports over the years have highlighted how close Gracias and Musk became both professionally and personally. The two families reportedly vacationed together and remained closely connected during several important phases of Musk’s career.
During Musk’s takeover of Twitter in 2022, Gracias reportedly helped communicate strategic decisions internally. His investment network has also been linked to fundraising efforts for xAI, Musk’s AI venture.
Apart from business, Gracias has also been involved in philanthropy and politics. In 2015, former US President Barack Obama appointed him as a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship.
He has donated millions towards medical and psychedelic research projects, including a $16 million contribution to Harvard University in 2023. Through the Gracias Family Foundation, he also supported scholarship programs for students affected by the Ukraine war.
