Dissatisfaction within the Goa Congress has intensified following the removal of Amit Patkar as Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president. In South Goa, party workers, block presidents, ZP members and other leaders met MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes, questioning the high command’s decision and expressing concern over the party’s direction.
Some leaders reportedly urged Fernandes to consider resigning from the Lok Sabha in response to the developments. Workers also raised concerns over key state issues and demanded greater transparency from the party leadership.

Responding to the criticism, Fernandes said he had no prior knowledge of Patkar’s removal and was neither consulted nor informed before the decision was announced. He stated that he became aware of the change only after the official order was issued. The South Goa MP added that he would consult concerned stakeholders before responding to suggestions regarding his resignation.
