BCCI ANNOUNCES REVISED INDIA T20I SQUAD FOR IRELAND AND ENGLAND TOURS

India have rested fast bowler Mohammed Siraj from the upcoming T20I assignments against Ireland and England, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirming that the decision has been taken as part of a workload management plan. In his place, Prasidh Krishna has been drafted into the squad.According to the board, the move follows consultations between the medical team and team management, who recommended a short rest period for Siraj to ensure full recovery ahead of a packed international calendar. Siraj has been on continuous duty across formats and was expected to be a key part of India’s long-term fast-bowling plans. The right-arm pacer featured in all five Tests of a demanding overseas series in England last year and has consistently carried a heavy workload in recent months. His fatigue was visible during India’s Test against the West Indies in Delhi, where he required on-field treatment but still ended the match as one of India’s leading wicket-takers in 2025.The selectors, however, are keen to preserve his fitness with an eye on major future assignments, including the next World Cup cycle. As a result, the decision has been framed as precautionary rather than injury-related. Siraj is expected to return for the ODI leg of the England tour in July.Prasidh, meanwhile, earns a recall after a strong domestic and IPL season, where he picked up 16 wickets in 12 matches for Gujarat Titans. Though he has limited T20I exposure, his ability to extract bounce with his height is seen as a useful asset in English conditions.India’s T20I squad also features Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, and several others including Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy.
