AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik has strongly criticised the recent statement by the state’s Power Minister regarding electricity load enhancement, questioning why consumers are being penalised when the Electricity Department has reportedly admitted that it has not suffered any financial loss due to the issue.
Addressing the matter, Naik demanded immediate intervention from the government and called for the withdrawal of all penalty charges imposed on electricity consumers. He also urged the authorities to grant residents a three-month window to submit applications for load enhancement and complete the necessary approval process without facing punitive action.

Naik rejected the proposal of allowing consumers to pay the penalties in instalments, arguing that the government should resolve the underlying issue instead of merely providing alternative payment options.
“The focus should be on removing the unjust penalties rather than facilitating their payment,” he said, insisting that consumers should not be burdened for procedural lapses when there is no financial loss to the Electricity Department.
Warning of public agitation, the AAP Goa chief said that if the government fails to take a decision by the end of the day, party workers along with affected consumers will organise a protest march on Friday to the residence of Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar.
The demand comes amid growing concerns among electricity consumers over penalty charges related to sanctioned load enhancement, with the Aam Aadmi Party urging the government to adopt a more consumer-friendly approach and provide relief to affected households.
