Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh and his father, Shailesh Singh, a retired Special Director General of Police (DGP), have been named in an FIR after their family cook accused them of assault and verbal abuse. The complaint was registered at Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal on June 29 following allegations made by Vipendra Singh Tomar, who worked at the family’s residence.
According to the complaint, the incident began after the family allegedly expressed dissatisfaction with the food prepared by Vipendra. He claimed he was verbally abused and decided to resign from his job. However, he alleged that his mobile phone was taken away and that he was forced to continue working despite repeatedly expressing his desire to leave.

Vipendra further alleged that he feared for his safety and locked himself inside a room. He claimed that Shashank Singh, his father Shailesh Singh and their driver forcibly entered the room and assaulted him, leaving him with injuries to his face and body. He also alleged that his phone was not returned after the incident.
Police have registered a case under Sections 296(B), 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Statements of the complainant and witnesses have been recorded, while the investigation is currently underway.
The complainant stated that he had accepted the job after being promised a monthly salary of Rs 15,000, along with food, accommodation and assistance in securing a government job. However, he alleged that he was made to work excessively and witnessed another cook being subjected to verbal abuse. Despite wanting to leave earlier, he continued working until the alleged incident took place.
Neither Shashank Singh nor his family has publicly responded to the allegations so far.
