Renowned playwright Pundalik Narayan Naik was honoured with the Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar in recognition of his outstanding lifelong contribution to Konkani theatre and literature during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kala Academy’s Konkani Drama Competition.
The prestigious lifetime achievement award was presented to Naik in acknowledgement of his decades-long contribution to the growth and enrichment of Konkani literature and the state’s vibrant theatre movement. Widely regarded as one of Goa’s most distinguished literary figures, Naik has played a pivotal role in shaping modern Konkani drama through his acclaimed plays, novels and other literary works.
The honour formed part of the celebrations marking the 50th edition of the Kala Academy’s Konkani Drama Competition, a landmark event that has served as a significant platform for promoting Konkani theatre and nurturing generations of playwrights, actors and theatre enthusiasts.
The recognition highlights Naik’s enduring legacy and his invaluable contribution to preserving and promoting Goa’s linguistic and cultural heritage through literature and theatre.
