More than 50 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu are stranded near the Nepal-China border after devastating flash floods hit the Bhote Koshi River on Wednesday. The group, comprising pilgrims from Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai districts, was travelling in three cars when the flooding occurred around 8am.
Some pilgrims reportedly managed to take shelter at an Armed Police Force outpost in Timure, around 150 km north of Kathmandu. However, communication with the group has been difficult due to disrupted mobile connectivity following the disaster.

Tamil Nadu Steps Up Rescue Efforts
Tamil Nadu government officials are coordinating efforts to rescue the stranded pilgrims and bring them to safety. A round-the-clock helpline has also been established to assist those affected and their families.
The flash floods have caused widespread destruction in Nepal and Tibet, killing at least nine people, washing away villages and damaging roads and other infrastructure.
