The Margao Yellow Black Motorcycle Taxi Pilots Association has opposed the proposal to introduce an app-based system for motorcycle taxi services in Goa, citing practical and technological challenges faced by many taxi pilots.
Association president Alex Albuquerque said several motorcycle taxi pilots do not own smartphones and many are not familiar with using mobile applications, making the proposed system difficult to implement. He also questioned the feasibility of the app in remote parts of the state.

Albuquerque pointed out that riders accepting bookings to interior villages such as Curtorim and Poliem may not be assured of return trips, making such rides economically unviable for motorcycle taxi pilots.
The association’s opposition comes ahead of a proposed statewide protest by taxi pilots, tentatively scheduled to be held at Azad Maidan in Panaji at 10 am on Tuesday, where members are expected to raise their concerns over the proposed app-based system and other issues affecting the sector.
