Australia vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has found herself at the centre of a personal controversy just days after helping her side secure another ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title in England. Gardner’s estranged wife, Monica Wright, has publicly accused the all-rounder of being unfaithful during their marriage, alleging she had an affair with fellow Australian cricketer Georgia Voll.
According to multiple reports, Gardner and Wright’s relationship began in 2020 after the pair met on a dating app. They got engaged in 2024 before marrying in a private ceremony in the Blue Mountains in April 2025. However, the marriage reportedly began to deteriorate during Australia’s Women’s ODI World Cup campaign in India later that year.

Reports claim Wright travelled to India after sensing changes in Gardner’s behaviour during the tournament. The couple eventually separated in November 2025, though details surrounding the split remained private until this week.
The controversy escalated after Wright shared a report about their separation on social media before posting a photograph of Australian opener Georgia Voll with the caption, “This is who my wife cheated on me with.” The allegation quickly drew widespread attention across the cricketing community, particularly as Voll is regarded as one of Australia’s emerging stars and currently represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League.
Reports also suggest the couple had been planning to start a family and had scheduled appointments at a fertility clinic before their relationship broke down. Gardner is also said to have moved out of their Sydney home, reportedly leaving behind their wedding rings.
Neither Gardner, Voll nor Cricket Australia has commented publicly on the allegations. At present, the claims remain allegations made by Wright and have not been independently verified.
