Announcing the decision, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei alleged that the United States had “openly violated” the terms of the ceasefire, leading Tehran to halt implementation of the agreement.
Baghaei said relations between Iran and the United States had entered a period of uncertainty, blaming Washington for failing to fulfil its commitments under the understanding reached between the two countries.
The suspension of the MoU marks a fresh setback in efforts to ease tensions between the two nations and raises concerns over the future of diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the conflict in the region.
