The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court has granted an interim stay on the Election Commission of India’s order dated September 19, which deregistered the Goa Vikas Party (GVP) as a recognised political party in the state.
With the interim relief, the Goa Vikas Party will be permitted to contest elections in Goa until the matter is finally decided by the court.

The High Court’s order temporarily suspends the effect of the Election Commission’s deregistration order, allowing the party to continue its political activities pending the final disposal of the petition.
The case will now be heard further before the High Court, which will decide the validity of the Election Commission’s decision after considering the submissions of all parties.
