Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the strictest possible punishment for those responsible for the alleged NEET paper leak and stressed the need to build a foolproof examination system to safeguard students’ futures.
Speaking after the NDA Parliamentary Party’s ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting on Tuesday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister urged NDA allies to remain united in ensuring smooth legislative business while appealing to Opposition parties to cooperate in Parliament despite political differences.

According to Rijiju, Modi said that all Members of Parliament share a collective responsibility towards the country’s future and its youth. He also highlighted that preventing examination paper leaks was a national responsibility and called for coordinated efforts to ensure transparency in competitive exams.
The Prime Minister noted that the government acted swiftly after reports of the alleged NEET paper leak surfaced. He referred to the arrests made in the case and said prompt action had been taken against those allegedly involved. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the alleged mastermind behind the leak, while the Education Ministry has also launched an online portal for the public to report suspicious activities related to NEET.
Modi also said the government conducted the re-examination without delay to minimise disruption to students’ academic future.
The remarks come amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. Demonstrations intensified on Monday after activist Sonam Wangchuk was hospitalised following a 21-day hunger strike supporting the student movement. Protesters continue to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The issue also disrupted proceedings in both Houses of Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, with Opposition parties raising slogans over the alleged NEET paper leak and issues related to the Ram temple donation theft controversy.
