Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday after leading a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence over the alleged police action against student protesters. The demonstration, organised by the Congress, witnessed several party MPs and workers marching towards Lok Kalyan Marg before police intervened.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was detained and taken to Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium along with several Opposition leaders. Visuals showed a police bus carrying Rahul and other leaders from the protest site after they were stopped by security personnel.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was taken to Mandir Marg Police Station following her detention. Shortly after, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi arrived at the police station to meet her daughter.
The detentions triggered fresh protests by Congress workers, who gathered outside Mandir Marg Police Station and staged a dharna demanding the immediate release of their leaders. Party supporters raised slogans against the Delhi Police and the Central government, alleging that peaceful protests were being suppressed.
The protest was held over the alleged police crackdown on student demonstrators during Monday’s agitation in Delhi. Congress leaders accused the government of using excessive force against students and demanded accountability over the incident.
The developments come amid the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, where the Opposition has been pressing the government on issues related to the alleged NEET paper leak and the treatment of student protesters.
