Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Working President Sunil Kawthankar has criticised the Goa government’s decision to waive ₹2 crore in electricity charges for the private Formula 4 racing event held at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
Questioning the move, Kawthankar said public resources should not be utilised to subsidise a privately organised event. He alleged that the decision places an unnecessary financial burden on the public exchequer while extending benefits to private organisers.

The Congress leader also sought an explanation from the government on the rationale behind granting the waiver, arguing that public funds should be used for essential services and welfare initiatives rather than supporting commercial events.
The GPCC has demanded greater transparency in the decision-making process and urged the government to justify the electricity charge waiver granted for the Formula 4 event.
