Concerns have been raised over alleged safety lapses and unchecked alcohol consumption at the popular waterfalls in Naneli and Pali, where large numbers of tourists flock during weekends, particularly in the monsoon season.
Visitors claimed that despite an entry fee of ₹150 for adults and ₹50 for children being collected, authorities were allegedly not conducting bag checks, even though signboards at the sites prohibit the carrying and consumption of liquor.

According to tourists, alcohol consumption, littering of empty glass bottles and reckless behaviour have become common at the waterfalls, creating safety hazards for other visitors and families frequenting the sites.
Questions have also been raised over the alleged absence of forest guards, despite the government’s monsoon safety advisories and increased footfall at the popular tourist destinations.
Visitors have urged the Forest Department to strengthen surveillance, strictly enforce safety regulations, carry out regular inspections and deploy adequate personnel to ensure the safety of tourists and protect the natural environment at the waterfall sites.
