Margao is set for a major facelift with the implementation of a ₹7 crore city illumination project aimed at enhancing the town’s aesthetics, safety and public infrastructure.
PWD Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat announced that the project will transform several prominent public spaces with modern lighting and decorative installations.
As part of the initiative, the Margao Municipal Garden will undergo a comprehensive lighting upgrade featuring decorative illumination, illuminated installations, CCTV surveillance and state-of-the-art lighting systems to improve both its appearance and security.
The project also includes the installation of high-mast and decorative lighting along major roads across the city to enhance visibility and beautify public spaces.
In addition, playgrounds at Aquem and Sirvodem will be equipped with modern high-mast lighting, enabling improved safety and facilitating recreational activities during the evening hours.
Kamat said the illumination project is aimed at giving Margao a vibrant new look while strengthening public safety and improving the overall urban experience for residents and visitors alike.
