Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a comprehensive relief package for people affected by the recent floods, introducing a range of measures including food assistance, education support, loan relief and financial aid for damaged institutions.
Speaking during a live address on social media on Thursday, Sarma said the government’s top priority is to support families impacted by the floods and help them rebuild their lives as quickly as possible.

“Our effort is to ensure that no flood-affected family is left without assistance. Relief work is continuing, and the government will extend every possible support for rehabilitation,” the Chief Minister said.
Under the relief package, every flood-affected household will receive an essential supplies kit containing rice, pulses, edible oil and other basic necessities. The Chief Minister said that 2,37,513 relief kits have already been dispatched to Sivasagar district, while an additional 63,000 kits have been sent to neighbouring Charaideo district.
The relief package also includes financial assistance for affected families, educational support for students, loan relief measures and aid for institutions that sustained damage during the floods. The state government said these initiatives are aimed at easing the hardships faced by flood-hit communities and accelerating rehabilitation efforts across the affected regions.
The announcement comes as Assam continues relief and recovery operations following widespread flooding that disrupted normal life in several districts across the state.
