A fresh consignment of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units allotted by the Election Commission of India arrived in South Goa on Friday.
The consignment comprises 1,095 Ballot Units (BUs), 1,100 Control Units (CUs) and 200 VVPAT machines manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
The machines were received at the District EVM Warehouse located at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex in Margao. In accordance with the Election Commission of India’s prescribed protocol, the warehouse was opened for the receipt, scanning and secure storage of the machines in the presence of authorised representatives.
Officials carried out the necessary verification and scanning procedures before placing the EVMs and VVPATs in secure storage to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
The newly received machines will be available for use in future elections as and when required by the Election Commission of India.
