The Executive Engineer (EE) of the Electricity Department, Uday Kudalkar, met Yuva Forward Goa State President Meshu D’Costa and linemen staging a dharna outside the Sanguem Electricity Department office on Friday, protesting the suspension of three workers following the Xelpem electrocution incident.
The protesters alleged that the suspended employees were innocent and had no role in the incident. During the meeting, Kudalkar assured the gathering that the department would make efforts to revoke the suspension orders, stating that the three workers were not present at the site of the accident and had been assigned to other duties at the time.

During the interaction, Meshu D’Costa questioned the findings of the inquiry report and sought clarifications from both the Executive Engineer and the Assistant Engineer (AE). However, according to those present at the protest, the officials were unable to provide satisfactory answers to the issues raised.
The protest drew support from linemen from various parts of Goa, who assembled at the Sanguem Electricity Department office to express solidarity with their colleagues and demand a fair and transparent inquiry into the incident.
The demonstrators maintained that disciplinary action should be taken only against those found responsible after a thorough investigation and urged the authorities to revoke the suspension of employees who were not directly connected to the Xelpem electrocution case.
