Ladakh Police have registered a zero FIR in connection with the circulation of an allegedly derogatory video targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media. The complaint, filed in Leh, alleges that the video contains offensive and hateful remarks about the Home Minister and has been widely shared across online platforms.
According to the complainant, the video’s content is not only objectionable but also has the potential to incite resentment among the public. The complaint further claims that the material could promote hostility, disrupt public order, and adversely affect social harmony if left unchecked.

Based on the written complaint, Leh Police registered a zero FIR against an individual identified as Yogesh Parmar. The case has been filed under Sections 197(1)(d), 352, and 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These provisions relate to offences involving acts against national integration, intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace, and public mischief. Depending on the specific offence, the sections carry penalties that may include imprisonment ranging from two to three years, a fine, or both.
Police officials said that while the complaint was received in Leh, the alleged incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Devaraja Police Station in Mysuru, Karnataka. Since the offence did not occur within Leh’s territorial limits, a zero FIR was registered to ensure prompt legal action before transferring the case to the appropriate investigating agency.
The FIR has now been forwarded to Mysuru Police, who will take over the investigation and determine the circumstances surrounding the creation and circulation of the video. Authorities are expected to examine the digital evidence and investigate any potential violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as part of the ongoing probe.
