India have won seven medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with the tally currently standing at one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
The Indian contingent has made an early impact at the continental multi-sport event, which began on September 19 and is scheduled to conclude on October 4. Around 500 Indian athletes are competing across several disciplines at the Games, which feature 469 medal events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines.

India’s first gold medal of the Games came through the women’s cricket team. The team defeated Sri Lanka in the final to retain its Asian Games title and give India its first gold of the 2026 edition.
Shooting has been India’s most successful sport so far, contributing five medals. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, while Elavenil also claimed an individual silver.
In the men’s 10m air rifle competition, Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane and Himanshu Dhillon secured silver in the team event. Himanshu Dhillon added another silver in the individual competition, while Rudrankksh Patil won bronze.
India’s other bronze medal has come from mixed martial arts. Suchika Tariyal created history by winning bronze in the women’s traditional -60kg division, becoming India’s first Asian Games medallist in the sport.
India currently have seven medals from three sports — shooting, mixed martial arts and cricket.
At the top of the overall medal table are the People’s Republic of China, with 53 medals comprising 32 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze. Hosts Japan are second with 46 medals, including 11 gold, while the Republic of Korea are third with 27.
India are currently eighth in the standings with seven medals.

India’s campaign also features several prominent athletes, including Olympic medallists PV Sindhu, Manu Bhaker, Lovlina Borgohain, Aman Sehrawat and Mirabai Chanu. Neeraj Chopra, however, is not defending his javelin title at Aichi-Nagoya after opting out due to injury.
Indian teams are also competing as defending champions in women’s and men’s cricket, kabaddi and men’s hockey. The Games will additionally provide direct qualification quotas for the LA 2028 Olympics in archery, hockey, sailing, squash, surfing, tennis and triathlon.
With the Asian Games continuing until October 4, India’s medal tally is expected to change as competition progresses across the remaining disciplines.
