Director General of Police Muktesh Chander said he has marked the inquiry file to the Inspector General of Police. IGP Sunil Garg said he would appoint a Superintendent of Police to inquire into the case.
Garg said the department has already served notice on Rane seeking an explanation from him regarding the serious allegations within 10 days. He said that the 10 days will end next week and after that the SP under whom Rane is presently posted will inquire into the case.
Rane and Constable Vinod Naik were named by two West-Bengal based girls who had been rescued from a prostitution racket for having sexually abused them and extorted money.
