Ponda: One on hand, local vegetable, fruit and fish vendors are sitting at home due to the lockdown while on the other hand, it has come to light, that several unauthorised vendors have been taking advantage of the situation and are freely conducting their business at Ponda market.
What has raised concerns amongst locals is the lack of social distancing maintained by either the vendors or buyers.
Speaking about what these developments, social worker, Viraj Sapre said he had filed a complaint about the same with the police and the deputy collector. However, he lamented that he was asked to file a written complaint with vehicle registration numbers of the vendors.
“When there is a lockdown, why are they insisting on filing a written complaint? Why can’t they go and take action against the violators. This shows no proper implementation of the lockdown in Ponda,” he added.
