MARGAO:  It’s not even two days since curtains came down on the Lusofonia games and the accounts office of the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at the Nehru stadium at Fatorda was inundated with water on Friday morning.
A group of workers equipped with buckets and brooms were busy engaged to drain out the water, even as a PWD official maintained attributed the inundation to a water valve left open in the premises.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when water found its way inside the accounts office from the adjoining toilet. An inspection of the toilet revealed that water gushed into the toilet from the ceiling, inundating the area. The overflowing water later found its way into the accounts office, but no damage was caused to any items or office files, sources said.
When asked to comment on the incident, PWD Assistant Engineer, Elvis informed that there was no leakage anywhere and the water gushed into the toilet from an open valve.
Replying to a question, he pointed out that the contractor is yet to commence work on the rooms housing the SAG accounts office, adding that work would start in the room after the same is shifted to another premises in the stadium.
