UHC, MMC to curb vector-borne disease

MARGAO: Urban Health Centre, Margao (UHC) on Tuesday urged the Margao Municipal Council to provide more support in eradicating vector-borne diseases in the commercial town, as the centre held a presentation programme of the same to the councillors.

The MMC has also decided to insist the contractor of on-going construction works in issuing health cards to the labourers.

The above presentation on vector-borne disease and other related issues was held in the Urban Health Centre. Dr Prashant Suryawanshi guided the councillors about the issue. Health Officer of UHC, Margao Dr Anju Kharangate, besides Lyndon Pereira, Chairperson of MMC, Dipali Sawal, Vice-Chairperson, and other few councillors attended the programme. 

Speaking to the media persons, Dr Anju said, “We have urged the MMC to support and corporate in eradicating the vector-borne diseases fully. The councillors can help us by making awareness to their wards and keeping eye on the causes which lead to vector-borne diseases,” she stated. 

Lyndon said that the presentation was helpful and we have decided to support the UHC in all possible ways so that vector-borne diseases are eradicated completely.
