BJP demands Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, stages protest in Kolkata

BJP leaders have accused the Mamata Banerjee-led government of failing to control communal violence in Murshidabad. The Bharatiya Janata Party has now intensified its campaign against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding her resignation amid the recent communal violence in Murshidabad and the ongoing teacher recruitment scam. Since April 13, 2025, when the violence became particularly brutal, BJP leaders, including Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, have led a large protest rally in Kolkata from College Square to Dharmatala.

In addition, the party is also targeting the government over the teacher recruitment scam, which is currently being investigated jointly by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.
