Panjim: Once again the Mhadei water issue got heated on the second
day of the Goa Assembly monsoon session. Opposition leader Yuri Alemao said
that Congress in Karnataka did not allot Rs. 1000 crore for Mhadei, it was BJP
Govt. The DPR should be withdrawn by the BJP at the center, he alleged that
that Goa Government is not serious and they are playing with the lives of
people. He further added that there are 14 members in the Pravah but till date
there is no name mentioned or available in the public domain.
He also said that the Goa Government is not serious on the Mhadei issue;
No one knows who are members in pravah. Nearly 1 crore 66 lakhs is spent on
Lawyers till date but there is no meeting of the House Committee. He questioned
the Minister in concern if the Central Government will withdraw DPR?
However, WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar said that after the
session an house committee will be called up on priority. He also assured the
house that a Pravah members committee will be formed comprising members of
three states and soon the meeting will be held and after the end of this
assembly session an house committee meet will also be held.
Meanwhile Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that there should be
constant meetings of the Mhadei house committee to oversee and keep an eye on
Mhadei proceedings in court.
Dr Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister said that when the consent was
give, the Goa BJP govt has failed to press for a stay on the award. Meanwhile
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that next hearing on the Mhadei matter will
be on 20 November 2023, most of the issues will be highlighted at that time and
answers to most of the questions will be answered. He also assured the house
that there is no compromise on the Mhadei issue.
