PONDA: Goa Dairy former chairman Anup Desai on Thursday alerted the Goa Dairy farmers to take preventive measures against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) that has been diagnosed in cattle in some parts of Sanguem.
He said, “The infectious disease among cattle is not new but when infected spreads rapidly and also proves fatal if care is not taken. If measures are not taken then it could spread rapidly among the cattle.”
Desai said, “Technical Group of Farmers on WhatsApp has started sending alert text messages. When a doctor treats infected cattle in one cowshed and goes to another, there are chances of spreading to other cattle.”
