A police report was filed against BJP MLA Munirathna and his associates after a 40-year-old woman accused them of gang-raping her, urinating on her face, and injecting her with a lethal virus, as stated by the authorities on Wednesday. Munirathna, a film producer-turned-politician, has been elected four times from Karnataka’s Rajaraheshwari Nagar and currently serves as the MLA for the constituency. The complaint, submitted by a BJP worker, resulted in the FIR being registered at the RMC Yard police station on Tuesday, according to officials. In her comprehensive complaint, the woman alleged that the incident occurred at the MLA’s office in Mathikere on June 11, where she was taken by Munirathna’s associates in a vehicle. Upon arrival, she claimed that the MLA and two accomplices forcibly undressed her despite her objections, threatening her with harm to her son if she did not comply. The complaint further alleges that Munirathna instructed the two men to assault her. Following the assault, the MLA reportedly urinated on her face.
An unidentified individual subsequently entered the room, providing the MLA with a white box from which he allegedly extracted a syringe and injected her. The woman claimed in her FIR that the MLA threatened to harm her family if she disclosed the incident. Three of Munirathna’s accomplices have been named in the FIR, while one remains unidentified. In January, the woman was hospitalized and diagnosed with an incurable virus, which she suspects is linked to the injection. Distressed by her condition, she took pills on May 19 and fell ill, prompting her to report the incident to the police. There has been no immediate response from the MLA. She also recounted a prior incident in which the MLA allegedly coerced others to file false charges against her at the Peenya and RMC Yard police stations, leading to her imprisonment.
