The Forest Department has chalked out a plan to set up camping sites at Edda in Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary and Mattoni in Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary in a bid to encourage trekkers.
Forest Minister Alina Saldanha announced that the Forest Department encourages trekking activities in its Wildlife Protected Areas. She said nature camps for youth and students are arranged on a regular basis.
Panjim legislator Siddharth Kuncolienker also sought to know whether the government proposes to construct lodging areas for trekkers on forest land.
The minister revealed that the department has made arrangements at Hattipaul adjoining the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem in Bhagwan Mahaveer National Park.
