MARGAO: After implementing all the possible measures to reach out to the 30,000 plus candidates, written tests for the posts of Junior stenographers were finally conducted at the Government Polytechnic College, Bicholim by the South district authorities. It is learnt that 1953 candidates have applied for the posts of 15 posts of Jr stenographers.
It may be recalled that the South Goa District Collectorate finally set up the examination schedule to fill up the 147 posts of Jr stenoraghers, LDCs, multi tasking force staff and talathis on September 29-30.

However, the issue pertaining to posting letters to candidates with incomplete addresses continued to haunt the authority, as GOACAN has decided to raise the issue with the Post Master General (Goa Region) on World Post Day; October 9. “We have utilised all the possible means, including personally calling the candidates and intimating them about the scheduled written tests. The office of the Collectorate was kept open even on Saturday and Sunday, wherein the authority helped the job-seekers to get their admit card,” stated the nodal officer.
Meanwhile, GOACAN on Friday expressed disappointment and alleged that the authority has again made a blunder by putting mobile numbers on the intimation expecting the postman to make the mobile call.
This will put a huge burden on the Postal Service which is already short staffed. The letters will be returned from the village based Branch Post Office with the endorsement “incomplete address” to Margao Head Post who in turn have to return it to the sender which is South Goa Collectorate, said Roland Martins of GOACAN. However, the concerned nodal officer clarified that the exercise of mentioning phone numbers of the candidate on the intimation letter was carried out by taking the postal authorities into confidence.
