Benaulim was once considered the queen of South Goa villages but it has literally and figuratively gone for a toss now. Stray dogs, cattle on the roads leading to accidents, bus shelters overgrown with vegetation rendered unusable, vegetation spilling across road surfaces, dirty beaches, garbage dumped by tourists in the verdure and what have you. The panchayat is least bothered about the ‘Sonsoddofication’ of the pristine environs and has taken no action over the past many years.
