PANJIM: Though the Model Code of Conduct will remain in force till March 15, four days after votes are counted, there will be some relaxations after the election process is completed, the office of Chief Electoral Officer said.
Speaking to the media, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Narayan Navti said that as there won’t be any inducement of voters after the election process, related activities will be relaxed as per approval of the ECI.
He said that urgent public works like repairs, routine works and events will be considered on a case-to-case basis, subject to the approval of the ECI.
However, the commission has asked political parties and candidates to strictly follow the guidelines with regard to advertisements, banners and posters. “They must conform to the Model Code of Conduct,” a circular issued by Office of the Chief Electoral Officer stated.
Navti said that till Saturday evening no political parties or individuals have applied for permission to display banners or posters.
