MAPUSA: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national leader Dr Kumar Vishwas said that his party would grant special status to Goa if voted to power in 2017 Assembly election in Goa.
Addressing the first public meeting at Parsem in Mandrem constituency, Vishwas slammed Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for failing to grant special status to Goa despite the BJP being in power both at the Centre and in the State.
He accused Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar of lowering the pride of Goans by “behaving” like a “slave” in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Just to sell the land of Goa to rich people, the dummy chief minister tagged the coconut tree as grass,” he charged.
This is the first tourism season that business has been low and the common man has been forced to stand in queues. “We want Goa to be known for its natural beauty and not for drugs and casinos,” he said.
Devendra Prabhudesai, Adv Ajit Singh Rane, Adv Shrinivas Khalap, and Pankaj Gupta were present at the meeting.
Prabhudesai said, “Till date, we haven’t seen any Goan political leader who can solve the common man’s problems. So it’s time that the common man stands up for himself. Under BJP’s government, tourism is being developed without having any concern towards the people. Projects are forcibly dumped on the people.”
