PANJIM: Goa Congress, on Tuesday, launched ‘Save Democracy, Save India – Join Congress Social Media’ campaign, the nationwide initiative to strongly counter the BJP’s alleged dominance in the online arena. The Congress is set to enroll ‘social media warriors’, who would be later, guided on party’s principles and ideology through orientation camps.

The campaign will bring in supporters of the party to add their voice to amplify the social media campaign and also pitch in their inputs on the issues that can be taken up as part of their election campaigns ahead of 2022 polls.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat lamented in front of media on how the social media platforms are used by BJP to tarnish or defame the image of country’s tallest leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru—who were among the frontrunners in bringing India’s independence and laid foundation for world’s largest democracy.
“Today, the factual and real history of India is manipulated by the Troll Army of the BJP. There are repeated attempts made to tarnish the image of great leaders for cheap political gains of the ruling BJP government. The sacrifices made by these leaders have always been the strong footing in progress and development of India and they will always remain on the golden pages of glorious history of India,” Kamat said.
The former CM appealed youth to join the Congress to spread the factual, truthful and real information which helps in national unity.
The chairman of State co-ordination committee Adv Ramakant Khalap said, ‘as the BJP has nothing to show with regards to its leaders’ participation in freedom movement, they are now trying to glorify the current leadership by creating false narratives ‘
“Cosmetic makeovers done by engaging Event Management and PR Agencies are short term and once the makeup fades away, the real face gets revealed,” said the former union minister.
