Goa’s Tanaji, Peter, Pradeep, Jeffrey in quarter-finals

MAPUSA: Goa’s Tanaji Sawant and Peter Tellis moved into the mens 60+ doubles quarter-finals and are one step away from winning a medal, at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Masters Ranking Badminton Tournament, organised by Goa Badminton Association under the aegis of Badminton Association of India at multipurpose stadium, Peddem, on Wednesday. 
Peter and Tanaji Sawant combined well to register a facile 21-12, 21-11 win over Arun Kaul and Anand Thirani from Gujarat. 
 Tanaji Sawant displayed great form to reach the men’s 65+ quarter-finals as well. 
 In the men’s doubles 55+, Goa’s Dr Manish Patel and Surendra Kamath have moved into the pre quarter-finals. In the round of 32, they defeated the Madhya Pradesh pair of Pramod Kumar Gupta and Ravindra Hame 21-13, 21-14. 
 Meanwhile, Goa’s Jeffrey D’Souza and Pradeep Dhond who won Silver at the Malaysian International Masters festival championship recently set up a clash with number three seeds Balbir Singh Jamwal and Anil Mehrotra for a place in the Men’s 65+ doubles semis. 
Miguel Rego and Richard D’Souza are also through into the last 8 in the men’s 65+ doubles where they will be up against the top seeded pair of  Shashidhara A. and Naidu SKB. 
 In the men’s singles 65+ age group, Goa’s Miguel Rego reached the pre quarter-finals before losing to Maharashtra’s Shaukat Noormohd 7-21, 4-21.
