Pedestrians in the Port Town of Vasco have to face a huge problem of having very little space on the pavements for them to walk on. It is pertinent to note that almost half of the pavements on both sides of the Swatantra path right from the church square to the IOC terminus is designated for vehicular parking. The other half of the pavement is meant for the pedestrians to walk on. But at several places it is seen that the entire breadth of the pavement is occupied by vehicles, both four-wheeler and two-wheeler (as seen in the photo). The pedestrians are left with no other option but to walk on the busy roads thereby putting their life at risk. The authorities concerned need to take necessary steps to see that there is sufficient space for the pedestrians to walk on by penalizing those vehicles that are wrongly parked on the pavement.
